drive through europe
here are some live sessions recorded in one take using the software 'audiomulch'. i can record layers and layers ontop of each other live, in real time. it gives me real freedom to work with ideas quite organically, in comparison with more rigid computer music, involving no programming or editing. it also puts the emphasis back on the actual performance of the music. these recordings are quite lengthy, involving serious repetion. patience is a virtue.

some times i like to write loud songs, but not too often. they usually involve layers or distorted guitars, cut up and re-programmed to sound like machines and put through walls of effects. With these songs i'm trying to focus on rhythms and small details in the percussive and glitchy sounds. i try to create some piercing drones using wailing synthesizer sounds, and am experimenting with layers of distortion.

some songs i recorded using a number of different sound sources such as guitars, calimba and string samples. i like to focus on orchestration and the subtle movements where melodies move against each other. i use programmed beat accompaniments using vocal sounds, some classic drumbox noises and guitar ticks. i create atmospheres and drones using synthesisers and manipulated samples.
